How to Drive Visitors to Your Website

Author: James Holish

First, here is some interesting market research of my own. The header I goofed . . . was the most viewed Newsletter out of All our Newsletters issued in the last 45 days. Interesting . . . I read somewhere this header title substantially increases views and, I just proved it to myself. You just have to take my word for it. Use this header title sparingly otherwise it becomes ineffective. Now on to todays business, driving visitors to your website. You may recall, in a previous Article, titled "Two Schools of Thought", there where some strong arguments that Keyword Markeing and Search Engine Marketing were the only way to go, hile the other argument stated that targeted email marketing was better. Better relative to what?

The SEO argument stated that pay per click, PPC, keyword marketing brought the customer right to your website door waiting, with their wallet in their hand, to buy your products and services. After all, THEY SEARCHED for YOU. The other side states that you went looking for customers with effective, well written, professional email campaigns to a targeted market of willing buyers. To "close" your sale you have to SELL. Since email marketing accounts for (54%) of website traffic driven to a website, according to the Direct Marketing Association, it makes sense to use email marketing as a primary marketing strategy, combined with KEYWORD marketing as well. Right? That would cover ALL bases. More about Keyword marketing in a future artic;e. A member in a downline and I are each running different campaigns. I have keyword marketing, she has email marketing. We will compare notes and report back to you. Therefore, be professional, be creative, be legal, and above all dont scream at me. Over the course of one day, I receive hundreds of emails daily. Most are the worst form of advertising I have ever seen. They do not include the following:

1. a signature similar to mine at the end of each email
2. an EASY TO USE optout statement to prevent SPAM complaints
3. a message, with well thought out content, to make it believable and worth my time, (and yours) to read.

IMPORTANT email TIPS:

Three seconds and 40 characters, thats all you have to promote your product or service.

Email marketing powerhouse DoubleClick.com conducts annual surveys with regard to user behavior when it comes to email.

A couple of the statistics from their latest findings are interesting. The second biggest motivator in opening email is the subject line.(The first is the "from" line.) Because subject lines are often shortened to around 40 characters and because email readers usually have their index fingers poised over the delete button -- we're left with about three seconds and approximately six words to make an impression. So what works? Make An Offer, State A Benefit, Evoke

Curiosity Double Click also reported that the average open rate was 27.5% (for text or HTML messages). That gives you a baseline to gauge your success. Testing is vital. And it's easy enough to do. You can also test your subject lines by sending your emails to a smaller test list before broadcasting it to the entire group. The information above is from SEO Bulletin - Wed, 05 Oct 2005 08:44:24 -0700 Use targeted prospects. Talk about hitting a BULLS-EYE! Hit a BULLS-EYE all the time everytime. Market with both quality email campaigns snd Keyword Search Engine Marketing Happy marketing.
