Its amazing that I am still living and breathingand typing this article at this precise moment. I am quite surprised that my fingers are still tapping on the keyboard. In fact, sometimes a lot of things about me surprises myself I am a mother after all and I should be zonked out on the couch flipping through channels on the TV by 8pm. But no, here I am, still working. If you want to call it that, you can say Ive got some secrets to share with you fellow moms out there who feel as if every single molecule of your body have been overworked every single day. No, its actually not a secret. Its something that we all already know but the thing is that we need to consciously reminded to do it. If you can get someone to remind you to do it, fine and dandy. If you dont, youre going to have to remind yourself. Here are some things tired-out moms can do during the day to keep themselves from falling apart by night fall. Leg lifts and situps Youre thinking, What? Youre nuts! As if leg lifts and sit-ups isnt going to drain more energy from us? Wait, hang on, let me explain. Now, if you ask any expert on sports or exercise, theyll tell you that a little bit of exertion or exercise during the middle of the day can boost your energy level. Thanks for something they all refer to as adrenalin. For us, we call it.well, exercise, mostly. But the fact remains that if youre feeling a little drained out, roll out the exercise mat and start pumping up the blood! It works, I tell ya! Calming down or Yoga If youre not into leg lifts and sit-ups, you can go the other waywhich is yoga and other relaxation techniques like meditation so on and so forth. I regularly attend yoga classes and I am always amazed at myself at the end of every lesson. Youll never know how far you can contort your body until you attend one of those classes. Go watch a movie Not on VCD or DVD or whatecver-D there is out there no. Go out to the actual theatre and watch it with someone OR alone. It doesnt matter. The point is to get out of the house and be immersed into something other than the kids and the spouse for 2 whole hours! A bath During a very stressful month, I took 4 baths in a single day. Every time you feel stressed or pressured, get into the bath! There are incense and bath foams that you can use (for instance lavender) you can use to help calm down tangled nerves. Add a good glass of wine and your favorite music to it trust me, youll be ENTANGLED pretty soon enough. Go out with friends Chatting up a storm about NOTHING can also do wonders. Take your mind away from whatever is stressing you outwhatever is bothering youtake your mind away from it. The kids can cause quite a commotion (I know mine can) so, talking about something unrelated to parenting, motherhood and kids can be downright therapeutic! Try it! |
